FISH MOVEMENT ECOLOGY GROUP
Understanding the drivers of fish movement and behaviour to inform conservation, management, and policy.
Our research focuses on employing tracking technology to gather data on fish behaviour and movement, enabling us to determine activity patterns, migration routes, seasonal movements and habitat use. Fish movement metrics are analysed alongside other environmental and fish health data to better understand how fish behaviour is modified in response to various environmental stimuli, both natural and human induced.
FMEG conducts applied research and has a strong interest in translating research findings into real world conservation and management applications. We work towards developing robust and practical solutions to reduce human induced impacts on migratory fish.
